Junior Girl Scout Troop 966 earned their Bronze Award by completing multiple service projects for the Parkville Animal Shelter.
Troop 966 collected donations for the Parkville Animal Shelter during pet adoption events at PetCo in North Kansas City on February 13 and 20th and also collected gently used towels and blankets in donation boxes that they decorated. The girls also made pet treats, and even held a “Smooches for Pooches” Valentine event at a troop meeting where the girls brought treats for the animals at the shelter instead of Valentine treats for each other. They also made pet beds for the cats and dogs at the shelter.
The Bronze Award is a prestigous honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. The Girl Scouts’ national website notes that the Bronze Award is a leadership adventure that helps girls develop confidence.
